Marlene works in acrylic, pastel and oil painting, and printmaking - etchings and lino-cuts.
“Creating art, putting down my mark is my reaffirmation of Self. Our own time and space, conditioned by history and memory, confuse the consciousness which can result in experiencing selflessness. My work explores my roots in the prairie landscape and in past myths.”
Marlene graduated from the University of Manitoba School of Art in May 1994, with a major in Printmaking. She studied Waterless Lithography with Nik Semonoff at the University of Saskatchewan in May 1997. During 1999, her work was accepted in many juried exhibitions including the Intimate Impressions: Art From Pan America, Site Gallery; The Winnipeg Art Gallery Grant Jury 5; MACAC Women in Agriculture touring exhibition; Mini-Print Exhibition, Barcelona, Spain; Micro Mini Print Exhibition, Dundarave Print Gallery, Vancouver, BC; and the Manitoba Society of Artists juried exhibition.
Her works have been shown in a number of group and solo shows (“Prairie Printmaker” Lightesome Gallery, Antigonish, NS., 2003, “Manitoba Parks” Medea Gallery, Wpg.) and are in public and private collections in Canada and abroad.
